Steel Ghosts
At one time, the Bethlehem Steel works, in Bethlehem, PA, were the second largest in the U.S. and among the most modern and productive in the world. They employed thousands of skilled workers, producing the steel that built the George Washington and Golden Gate Bridges, the Bonneville, Grand Coulee, and Hoover Dams, and the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings. But by 2001, Bethlehem was in bankruptcy, and today, all that's left of the the once gargantuan works has been turned into a casino. The photos you see here were shot in some of the deserted parts of the works in 2007, before they were torn down.
