Eight years ago, Jim and John drove almost eight hours to Vermont for a civil union ceremony. This November, they made the trek to Massachusetts finally to be married. Some day, if our country ever reaches the maturity level of Argentina, Canada, Spain and the Netherlands, couples won't have to cross state lines to have their basic human rights recognized and validated.
